A veneer is a thin shell of composite or porcelain that bonds directly to the front surface of a tooth. Veneers have become a highly popular option for restoring smiles that have been affected by deep discoloration, tooth gaps, cracks and chips.
At the office of Dentistry of East Sacramento, we offer traditional porcelain and composite veneers, Lumineers, as well as Emax brand and Empress brand veneers. These custom restorations offer superior aesthetics and strength for your smile. Once bonded to the teeth, veneers are virtually undetectable and can beautify your smile for many years.
When you come to our office with a request to improve the look of your smile, we will first evaluate your oral health and discuss your expectations. Once it has been decided that veneers are the treatment of choice, we will begin the procedure of installing them. This generally takes two appointments at our dental office. During the first appointment, your tooth is prepared which for most veneers involves removing a small part of the enamel to allow the veneer to fit. Then, the tooth surface is roughened using an etching solution to allow the veneer to bond well. An impression of the tooth is taken, and the shade of the veneer is determined to ensure it looks natural. This information is sent off to a dental laboratory to prepare your restoration and meanwhile, a temporary restoration is placed on your teeth. Once your veneer is ready, the temporary one is removed, and the new one is permanently placed on to your tooth.
