Traditional dentures are an excellent option to replace missing teeth. They are highly effective in helping you eat properly and speak clearly, and will help boost your confidence by improving your appearance.
Gaps in the mouth due to tooth loss should be addressed as soon as possible. When these spaces are not filled, the remaining teeth may shift. This can lead to crooked teeth and bite issues which will eventually affect your oral functions and can damage the remaining teeth.
Complete dentures – Conventional complete dentures are made after all the teeth have been lost or removed and the gum tissue has healed. These should be ready for placement after several months. Immediate complete dentures, on the other hand, are made ahead of time so they can be ready for placement as soon as teeth are removed. These can serve as temporary replacements until your conventional dentures are prepared.
Partial dentures – Removable partial dentures are replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored plastic base that holds the denture in place. Partial dentures are recommended when you have some natural teeth that remain in the upper or lower jaw. A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by the missing teeth, but it also prevents the other teeth from shifting.
First, we make a series of impressions of your jaw and take measurements of how your jaws relate to one another and how much space is between them. Next, we create models of the denture to be made. The denture will be evaluated for shape, fit and color before the final cast. The final denture is prepared in a dental laboratory. Once your denture is ready, we ask you to try it on, and we will adjust as necessary.
