A regular dental checkup at our office includes the following:

• Professional Dental Cleaning: A professional dental cleaning, also known as prophylaxis, helps in deeply cleaning the teeth by removing plaque and tartar from the hidden areas of the mouth which may be hard to reach using dental floss or a toothbrush. The cleaning is done using special dental instruments and leaves your mouth clean and breath fresh.
• A Full Dental Examination: During your dental checkup, we carefully assess the condition of your oral structures to check for any problems. The teeth are checked for signs of cavities, fracture or decay. The gums are checked for any signs of gum disease. We also check your inner cheek lining, throat and tongue to detect any lesions or abnormalities.
• Digital X-rays: When necessary, we use digital X-rays to help detect any potential problems with your teeth which may not be visible otherwise. Digital X-rays are a good alternative to traditional X-rays as the film can be viewed immediately on a screen and they emit less radiation.

• Oral Cancer Screening: A regular checkup at our office includes screening for oral cancer. Early detection can help us administer treatment in a timely manner and help you get rid of this life-threatening disease.

We strongly encourage our patients to adopt a good home-care dental regime to complement their in-office visits. This includes regular brushing, flossing and avoiding sugary foods and drinks.
